Google CEO Sundar Pichai describes the assistant in his blog post, "Assistant is conversational — an ongoing two-way dialogue between you and Google that understands your world and helps you get things done. It makes it easy to buy movie tickets while on the go, to find that perfect restaurant for your family to grab a quick bite before the movie starts, and then help you navigate to the theater. It’s a Google for you, by you."
Google Assistant is basically an upgrade to the company's existing Google Now digital personal assistant. It allows users to ask multiple questions in one go. The service also integrates with Google's new chat bot app Allo and Amazon Echo rival Google Home.
Google assistant is powered by aritificial intelligence. Just like Facebook's bots, it has been designed to be conversational. Assistant can also indulge in normal conversations with users, helping them book movie tickets, get directions and more.
